Agreed, if it had been invented 30ish years later slavery probably wouldve died out on its own as rival cotton and tobacco producing regions drove down the price to a point that slavery didnt give any real benifit over just paying workers subsistance

@R Gon Democrats passed the civil rights and voting rights bills. Dixiecrats were southern conservatives who had previously identified as democrat but were annoyed at how liberal the party was becoming. They tried to filibuster the legislation, failed, then decided to become republicans since they felt betrayed by the democrats for giving blacks the vote. liberal/progressive and the south has always been more conservative. Democrats and republicans in the north voted for civil rights, democrats and republicans in the south voted against it.

Political party switch is a myth.
And it was many Republican presidents during the last 50 years who have made sure minorities havent had the same freedoms that whites do.
Parties are not static things, they change voter bases over time to try to appeal as broad of an audience as they can, or if one party starts ignoring part of its base, the other one will try to pick up those by appealing to issues that concern them.
Look up "party systems in the united states", every once in a while a disagreement within a party causes a faction to split off which fundamentally changes the make-up of that party. See in particular Progressive or Bull Moose party and the George Wallace Dixiecrats.

In the 1860s there wasn’t slot of foreign policy, both groups didn’t have much disagreements economically, both parties were in favor of the tariffs at the time. And of corse those are relevant. When 2 separate groups with consistently different ideologies magically swap which party they vote for it shows us that something changed in the party’s.
@Jack Ward your only highlighting the points you want to highlight to make your argument. What about economic policy, domestic policy, idealism, factionalism, foreign policy. Half of your points are not even relevent to the ideological stand points of the parties, for example "northern" and "city" is a geographical or geopolitical location and so the change could be based on the people of that region changing and not the parties. Even today the democrat party has a conservative wing still in it, along with progressives, left wing populism and centrists (these make up the factions within the democrat party) Your simple stating your opinion rather then a factual thought out argument. Too be a true liberal you should learn to study the whole picture so you can make a reasoned argument rather then just follow a dogmatic understudy.

Why do people, who want to explain about slavery, seem to have maps to sublimely say Democrats freed slaves while Republicans were the slave owners. How, they use maps showing the North is Blue, which was the color of Northern uniforms, and is the color of Democrat Party, and instead of using the actual Southern color of gray, they use the Republican color of Red. This sends a subliminal message to most young people who know the Democrat color is Blue and the Republican color is Red. If they map was in the uniform colors of Blue and Gray, then it would not be a subliminal message of the Democrats fought against slavery and Republicans fought against slavery, when in fact the Republicans fought against slavery while the Democrats fought for slavery, passed Jim Crow Laws, founded the KKK just among the many things they have done to keep American Africans as slaves. Their most recent is getting American Africans as slaves it to get them to volunteer to be slaves. How is this, slave owners controlled their slaves and every aspect of their lives, like where they can live, what they can own, what they can eat, if they can have another person live with them, wow sounds like the current welfare system. This just one of ways Liberals try to change History.

@R N Am I? One day when I logged into ISworlds, a video of a young black lady watching and talking about this video, popped up in the recommend videos for me to watch. So I watched it. This led to more suggestions from ISworlds, for me watch more videos of other young adults, of all races watching and talking about this video. Then ISworlds also started suggesting for me to watch videos of young adults watching a similar video, which uses a different map, but uses the same colors for the North and South. The most astounding thing I learned, is how many young adults do not know American History. I have watched many of these videos of young adults ranging from teenagers to 30 something year olds. Here are some of the things I have discovered the majority of these viewers knew, and did not know. 1. The Majority knew President Abraham Lincoln fought to abolish slavery. 2. The Majority thought President Lincoln was a Democrat. 3. The Majority were surprised, and did not know President Lincoln started the Republican Party. 4. The Majority thought Democrats fought to abolish slavery, and thought the Republicans fought to not abolish slavery. 5. The Vast Majority did not know Democrats fought to keep slavery in the South. 6. About half made some sort of comment about how Red is the color for Republicans, and Blue is the color for Democrats. Which is why, I think the use and placement, of the colors used, whether intentional or unintentional, is a subliminal message, to enforce Democrats fought to abolish slavery and Republicans fought to keep slavery.

As someone from western N.C. I support the Confederacy and it's generals but I know in hindsight slavery is evil but from the viewpoint of a mid-century southerner where slavery had been normal for generations it makes sense. I just don't like people saying that Robert E. Lee and other great generals like Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson are white-supremacists and that they're statues should be torn down, and also calling people who are defending them white-supremacists.
